Surrey Fire Brigade 1990 Dennis 'RS' Water Tender Ladder.
1990 Dennis 'RS' Series Water Tender Ladder of the Surrey Fire & Rescue Service photographed
at the South of England Fire & Rescue Show at Redhill,Surrey in the summer of 1992.
This appliance was located at the wholetime/retained station in Guildford, the home of Dennis
Brothers(John Dennis Coachbuilders)who celebrated in 2008,100 years of building fire engines.
In 1992,Guildford fire station operated with 3 pumping appliances, rescue unit, and an Hydraulic
Platform, which I beleave was the only station to have this type of line-up in the County.

This Dennis SS still survives as ATU559 with the Milton Fire Brigade in New Zealand's South Island. Visit www.111emergency.co.nz, try "search the site" with that rego number.

Yes these look perfect in my opinion. Thanks Pete.
Not sure whether there really was any truth in it, but I once heard (not sure when in history) that Dennis wanted to come to an agreement with Guildford Fire Brigade/Surrey Fire Brigade/Surrey Fire and Rescue to utilise Guildford Fire Station as a means of show casing their products. The impracticalities are easy to predict, but it's hard to think of anything more appropriate.
It's a shame (especially since the centenary) that there is not some sort of tribute on/by the roundabout near the old Dennis works to the local manufacturer. They should mount an SS on a plinth there!
