I often wondered why Carmichael did not instal a proper front step or full length front door on any of these custom cab appliances? I should have thought it would have made access a lot easier for the driver and OIC. All of the chassis they built this cab on were already full forward control - Albion, Bedford TK, Commer/Karrier, Dodge and Ford. The standard D series cab fitted to the chassis this unit is based on had a very easy access cab as a major selling feature, and it seems odd that a body manufacturer would use a chassis with such a good feature and replace it with a step ring!
