If you look to the right of this picture you will see an ally, which is filled with broken or "inoperable" fire engines and trucks. I will download the pictures I have but I counted 63 broken apparatus and none were older than 7 years. Apparently they have NO maintenance or mechanics to work on these vehicles, so when they break (for whatever reason) they push them in back and order a new one ususally at $500,000-$612,000 a piece. To make matters worse the engines they are buying carry 1/10 of the equipment many of us carry and virtually no hose or ladders on their engines. Once again I will try to download my pictures.
Funny you should say that Pavel. After seeing all of the "inoperable" apparatus in Aug. 07 and spent a lot of time coming up with a business plan (several actually)thanks to my very patience Thai wife. In Aug 08 I met and spoke with 5 people all of whom have / had large companies supplying the Thai government. Once again thanks to my wife we made the time and met. They all said the same thing. Great idea, great business plan (except for some minor modifications. Then the hard words. All 5 said the same. Never going to happen due to the corruption and the kickback that would be needed. This is why they would rather pay $500, 000 - $600, 000 for a bad vehicle. Because they know they will need another in a few years and that means more kick backs and bribes. I still have not given up hope though. We will go back in April and Aug in 09 and I will do more research and talk to more people. Perhaps the "right" people this time.
