In reponse to the request for a shot of LAN 44 from West Ham, here it is. Incidentally, despite its AEC appearance, it's actually on a Maudslay chassis.
That appears to be an AEC. Maudslay had different bodies, even in Scotland.

see picture 36474 - the recent comment there from an ex Merryweather employee, I think confirms that LAN 444 is on a Maudslay chassis despite looking like an AEC because of the badge. I am writing a history of West Ham FB so I hope that is right!
Hi petros , it was the grill and front panel , merryweather also built aec and used the same front but did not put a badge where the aec badge would normally be, just to confuse things many firefighters put an aec badge on , hope this makes it easier or more difficult to understand!!
definately a maudsley , merryweather used the maudsley chassis right up to 1960/61 when they no longer became available and I believe it was the mercury chassis after that , the use of the grill if you look on maudsleys website was used by merryweather after maudsley were bought by aec but were still a maudsley chassis built at maudlsley wheo were not fully integrated into aec till after 190 and I hope this helps , different bodystyles were also used but if you look at the grille it had no aec badge and the wheels are maudsley not aec
