Classic fire truck line up

Through this site we're getting lots of information from those who preserve and appreciate the great old fire
trucks of yesteryear. Here's a selection that Bryan Edwards of West Ealing sent me after one of his many visits to fairs and rallies; it anyone doesn't know the make of any of these I'm sure that they'll get the story in short order after a few old timers add comments.

Wow! once again bob you have prompted me to post a comment when I don't have anything useful to say - just what a brilliant picture. Was it really taken as recently as 1990? such a line up of aerial heaven would seem like a dream today.

Bryan Edwards - now there's a name from the past ! Bryan and I swapped photos back in the 1960s. (I can even remember his address in West Ealing !!)

Great to see a preserved ERF - and with the "classic" SS85 Simon booms!

Its a similar type to the one we had in the Clwyd Fire Service Jake (which was ordered in Summer 1973 by the County Of Flint Fire Service), but its not the same one, the ERF featured in the picture belonged to another Brigade, not Clwyd. The machine your thinking of was ERF HP, KDM860K which Im informed was sold to a TV Production Company down in London, after it came out of Service with Clwyd. It spent the majority of its working days in Clwyd at East 2 Deeside.

I think it might be NUE 350F, 1967 ERF/HCB-Angus/Simon SS85 HP that served with Warwick County Fire Brigade. The name & crest on the cab door and the thin nameplate on the booms look like a Warks machine. The blue repeaters below the windscreen are unusual as well. It was sold to Co Galway in 1984 I am led to believe.
I've seen a photo of it at a rally in 1972 - could this be the same event?

Micheal,

I wonder if thats the Same ERF HP thats sitting at the airfield where they film Top Gear? I was down there last summer but was not allowed to take photos.....

We had 2 in Clwyd didnt we Michael, was the other originally ordered by D&M Joint Brigade? I remember going up in the cage of KDM at a fete with my uncle 30 odd years ago when blind eyes were turned to such things. He served at Deeside, this was replaced at Deeside by ERF OUN543M when Wrexhams Dennis HP moved there after Scania ALP was delivered. The Dennis HP moved to Deeside when Rhyl had Volvo ALP delivered
