Very common in France; Renault manufacture the vast majority of fire engine chassis and their factory crew cab is very common. Camiva is one of the largest specialist fire truck builders, along with Gimaex, Sides, Desautel and others, but all of the designs are very similar.

The side mounted ladder for roof access is a fairly common feature on French pumpers. It allows crew members to get on to the roof without taking time to remove the detachable one man hose carts, which are a standard item.

Although the ladders are not visible in this photo, all French pumpers still carry hook ladders - which were invented in France - and they are frequently used, especially in older city building's courtyards where other ladders are not practical.
