Sad end of a MaudsleyMarquis/Merryweather

Reference picture 11747, there were in fact two Maudslay Marquis/Merryweather jobs with South Eastern Area. NSF 232 was a Pump, and NSF 233 was a WrT. I don't know the fate of 232, but here is shown 233, which I photographed many many years ago (and on dreadful film, hence the marks, for which I apologise.) It was taken in a fire station yard, (I THINK Crewe Toll), and proves beyond any doubt that it would never turn another wheel !

This is indeed at Crewe Toll station with the former ferranti factory in the background ( now Selex Systems ). Looks like it was used for RTC training.

I think what might have happened is that it was in an RTA first, and the wreckage was then virtually cut to pieces for RTA training.

Yup! Definitely Crewe Toll in Edinburgh...I used to work in Ferranti, that's what drew my attention to the photo in the first place!

I used to drive it in the late 60s when it was stationed at Galashiels. What a sad end.
