NSW Rural Fire Service Flat Bed Truck

This is a Flat Bed truck on an Isuzu chassis. Hiab crane behind cabin. Not sure whether this vehicle is used as a breakdown truck. A water tank is anchored to the tray. Didn't say where this vehicle is used, most likely it is the only one of its kind as other RFS areas do not have them.

These vehicles are popping up all over the state now. In Wagga Wagga there is one that's purpose, amongst others is to transport the air support equipment to air fields closer to the fire ground to reduce turn around time for the fixed wing bombers. Wagga's is a tilt tray for easy deployment of equip. I guess that it could also be used as a recovery vehicle for smaller appliances.

I just revisited this vehicle pic and noticed the sign writing next to on door- "Illawarra" RFS Zone is to the South of Sydney.
Re Usage: during the Vic Bushfire Emergency in Feb 2009 the Riverina Zone flat bed was used to deliver foam et al to our strike teams.
