Leyland Metz Turntable ladder

A few weeks ago someone posted a photo of the Leyland Metz 100foot (30m) ladder at the very
end of its days, so here it is when it was still turning out with its sister machines, the Pump Escape based
on a Leyland with limousine(fastback) body; both were 1938 machines as was the third 1938 Leyland wilth full limousine pump--- looked like a large delivery van. I understand that both the latter units have private owners and attend rallies. A word about this aerial, turntable ladder. Apparently because of low bridges in Hastings the Metz ladder had to be set lower of the Leyland, making it one of a kind. The pictures I took aren't the best as it was a very dark, rainy day(it doesn't rain very much in England does it???)

Hi Bob,

I posted the pics of the TL as it is now, what a shame when you see what it used to be like, I was led to believe the low height was due to the height of the fire station itself, do you have pics to post of the other two vehicles as well? it would be great to see them.

Hi,I was delighted to see the photos of all 3 appliances. As an apprentice 'Chippy' I worked at the Seaside Road fire station altering the main doors to take the replacement machines. Regards M S Hastings
