Showell, Maryland1996 Volvo/Southern Coach. Tanker 805 belongs to Showell VFD in Worcester County, MD. This beast has three rear axles and carries 5,000 gallons of water. I've seen many a fire apparatus but this was a first for me.

Any rural Fire Chief would love to see this rig, on Mutual Aid, arrive at his fire-scene. In North America, multiple axles are often required on the roads, to meet maximum axle-loading requirements, by law. In northern areas, with severe winters; and accompanying spring break-up - axles are restricted to 80% loading, as the road-beds thaw out. The roads "heave" and sink - pavement breaks up and lots of pot-holes develop.
A great photo. Regards, from Canada, Pat_R-B
