Wallsend Fire Station - with Leyland CubAt the turn of the century civic buildings were designed to be multi-purpose. In 1908 the new Wallsend ( on the North East Coast of England ) Town Hall was opened. This building also encompassed the Police Station, Fire Station and public swimming baths! The fire station was closed in 1989, however this week to celibrate 100 years of the Town Hall some old appliances were brought back to the fire station. Here we seen the Leyland Cub belonging to the Tyne and Wear Fire Brigade sitting in one of the two fire station bays.
