It's long time no see for me and this machine. I remember it very well when it was based in it's home county with a collection of other preserved ex-Surrey machines and was a regular at station open days and the like. Always a particular favorite for me as it served at the retained station in the town where I grew up. So pleased to see it's being well looked after and more most importantly out and about.

I agree very much with your last point John. These machines have a particular sound when being driven (which I love) and they obviously need to be out and about for people to be able to hear them. Those people who are still able to show such vehicles with the high cost of fuel etc must be applauded.

Chris:
Your point is well taken. I was told by a driver who took Darlington's F12 down to London to pick up a new 50 foot Merryweather escape that he averaged 4 mpg!
I think they had a tank around 28 gallons, so that must have meant five or six stops to refuel for the round trip...
Hi Rob, The petrol tanks on F7s, 12s and 15s hold 20 gallons. I imagine that in the non operational world of preservation, harsh acceleration is to be avoided at all costs!
