Great shot of a Rear-Mount Pump hooked up.

In my neck of the woods, Rear-Mounts are almost totally unknown.

In the UK and most other European countries pillar hydrants are almost totally unknown.

One reason is that most of the existing underfloor hydrants in Britain are right in the middle of the road, so switching to pillar hydrants would call for a lot of additional - and expensive - plumbing!

Britain used to have mid mount pumpers in the days when some of them carried wheeled extension ladders, but these died out several decades ago, so everything has been rear mount for a long time now. In some other European countries, front mounted pumps used to be popular but have also disappeared in favor of rear mounts.
