Did many of the Essex pumps have monitors on their roofs? Or was there a reason for this particular appliance having the monitor?

Added by Andy on 27 March 2008.
The monitor on the roof is to do with stansted airport incidents- harlow had a fire engine like this

Added by John Brian Dawson on 27 March 2008.
During the 1980/90s period a vast majority of appliances in use with the
Essex County Fire Brigade(Essex F&R)had a roof monitor mainly as a fixture
on the roof of the cab, but even on the roof of the main back section. The
County has large dock areas, major industrial complexes throughout, and of
course airports, as well as in the summer months a county that is a big tourist haven, holiday camps, hotels etc, but very seldom was the monitor used on a major aircraft incident but would be very helpful at large fire incidents.

Cheers for that!
