Photo of 1940 Dodge Light Pump Motor No. 17

Front-mounted Dennis No. 2 pump, the appliance had no water tank and was classified in its time as a pump and hose truck. The suction hose was stored in the three canisters over the ladder

Wonderfully unique Australian pump - another combination of American and British design.

With a British front mounted pump on a Yank chassis with single rear wheels, it has a late 1930s style open toast rack body design with typically British overhead ladder and suction gantry.

This is a combination which clearly reflects the fact that in 1940 it was probably a lot easier to get a chassis from the US than England, but the local bodybuilder was following the British tradition when it came to design detail, except for the front-mounted pump. This was perhaps because it was easier to run it off the crankshaft than lay hands on a full power PTO...

Probably an ex military WW2 Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) Dodge.
Some British brigades had WW2 CMP Dodges with front mounted pumps and new post war bodywork. Suffolk was one I believe.
