C'nooga, TN FD Quint 21

Chattanooga Fire Dept. embraced the Quint concept a few years ago and have equiped most fire stations with them. Here's a Rosenbaur/Central States Quint w/ 1500gpm pump and a 500gal. tank and a 75' stick. Assigned to sta. 21 on East Brainerd Rd. in C'nooga, Tennessee USA.

St Louis went for 50 (or maybe 55) foot quints to replace their pumpers some years back - and discovered that their limited reach made them next to useless. Not unlike the PHP phenomenon in the UK.

But 75 footers are quite popular, as they are more maneuverable than the 100+ foot quints, as well as being less expensive. Many smaller departments with only a few tall structures run one as their primary aerial, and larger ones often mix them alongside larger ladders, towers or platforms. Chattanooga is an example of this latter approach...
