Malaysia - Atego Tender left view.

Malaysia FRS Atego Fire Tender - fabircated by CME Engineering Bhd. Classified as light due to smaller tanks and fewer ladders than the Scanias (which are classified as Medium Tenders).
First roll out of new order for 200 Units which will replace the remaining old Bedfords, Tatas and Japanese chassis.
Also first in new livery and colours for Malaysia's Bomba. Eventually all Tenders will have same livery.

Nice appliance, just one question, why do they put a cage over the lightbar? seems strange when theres no such protection anywhere else on the appliance. Thanks.

If i not mistaken nearly all MFRD pumping appliances lightbars is protected by the cage.I think it is to protect them in case it is hit by debris, stone etc.

On the recent Malaysia independence day parade (31 August 2008) the Malaysia FRD had show off their power by showcasing 28 appliances (nearly all are new) to the public inculding their newly acquired Scania/Multilift HVP, Atego Light FRT, Scania 3rd generation FRT, Scania exhibition unit and turntable ladder and also Volvo FM Aircraft refueller. Not forget to mention their old preserved Dennis pumper/escape carrier. In other words the Malaysia FRD appliance contingent is the largest vehicle parade contigent in the parade.

The Atego's Light & Siren is from Haztec, a UK based company, boring..., even the Scania's using Whelen but not good enough. Why didn't CME use Federal Signal SS2000SM Smart Siren, you should hear how good the PA 300 Series sounded on PDRM Cop Car, it's amazing, the Whelen and Haztec the other hand won't move the dense traffic here in Malaysia, we need something more kick, like Q siren...!
