The work that Petros has put into publishing the Alastair Collins Collection is probably without equal in fire service circles, I doubt anyone else has the knowledge and patience to carry out this task. Alastair Collins served in the AFS in the Manchester area and later was a retained firefighter in north Wales. His work as an electrician took him all over the U.K. and unbeknown to his family he photographed fire engines where ever he went. After Alastair died in 2016 two large boxes of slides were found in his workshop, almost none had information with them. It was only by accident that they came to me and I only knew Petros from his photos published here of the Cynwyd fire he had taken in 1976. Those of us who knew Alastair are deeply indebted to Petros for his work as a fire service historian.
To put the record straight this TL is a 1967 Dennis F107:Carmichael:Magirus TL MUA 599F. Supplied new to Warley County Borough and stationed at Smethwick fire station.
