This is one of 120 fire stations operated throughout the country by the Israeli National Fire service, and is a main station, located in this city of 200, 000 inhabitants.

The service has around 5, 000 firefighters, including some 3, 000 unpaid on-call volunteers, and responds to about 90, 000 calls a year.

It does not provide emergency ambulance response, which is handled by a separate organization.

Their fire trucks are mainly assembled locally to a series of standard designs, using Iveco, Mercedes and MAN chassis for the larger units and US Fords and Chevrolets for the smaller rigs.

Some of these different makes can be identified in this large appliance room.
