New Zealand Ford - DR5629

Based on a 1935 Ford V8, this appliance was completed by the Colonial Motor Company for the Dunedin fire brigade. It later was acquired by the Kurow volunteer fire brigade who now maintain the appliance in preservation.

Looks like an all-American fire truck - except for the rear seat. Kiwi firefighters got to ride in relative comfort, instead of standing on the back step!

The old Ford flat head V8 was very powerful for its day, and I can imagine this was a pretty quick ride...
