FDNY Marine Div 8 1 2017
FDNY Marine Div responds 8 1 2017
NYC has introduced additional, inter-boro ferry services that cost the same as a subway or bus ride - $2.75 (sorry, no senior discount). It’s a very pleasant experience on a hot summer day. www.ferry.nyc/routes-and-schedules . I was on the ferry to NY and saw two FDNY shallow-draft, seasonal FB responding. A few minutes later, the ferry (a catamaran) reduced speed and drifted past a small boat riding at anchor. The two FB were tied-up alongside. (Picture at 10:56). Two minutes later, FDNY, Marine 6, The Bravest, shot by the ferry. Her rated speed is 50kts and on this calm day at slack tide, she certainly was running at full throttle. I was completely surprised and could get only a grab shot as she passed the ferry. The second picture is only seconds later, she’s still going strong.
Coming back, an hour and a half later, M6 was still alongside rendering assistance. The two smaller boats had returned to quarters.

6830 - 10:58.28 FDNY Marine 6 The Bravest, shoots by the ferry.
Calm seas (slack tide) no wind; this boat is rated at 50kts. Sure looks like it’s going full throttle.
