FDNY R5 Wounded Warriors 2017 parade

A side view as they go by on their way to a reception. Taken on 7 7 2017 in Breezy Point, NY as they are thanked for their service and sacrifice.

This is not an FDNY apparatus, despite the lettering. In the era of open canopy cab pumpers, FDNY operated both Mack and American La France units, and I think this may be a Ward, but it is not either a Mack or an Alfie. In addition, FDNY pumpers did not have booster reels like this, nor did they have high sided lockers.

Lastly, Rescue 5 of course operated rescue trucks, not pumpers!

Thanks Rob. See companion pic # 40514 for a head-on photo and narrative account. I'll post another "Not FDNY" rig - a 1977 Seagrave, ex Dobbs Ferry NY - also a 'moving memorial" to the FDNY losses on 9-11-2001.

Thanks Phil:

I have seen an ex FDNY Mack B series liveried as a memorial with the Engine 343 designation to celebrate the fallen members of the department on 9/11.

I think this is on this site.

Make no mistake, I deeply appreciate all of these efforts to remember these wonderful men. At the time I lived in Manhasset, and attended memorial services for twelve friends and fathers of my children's school mates in the closing months of that year.

We must never forget their sacrifice.

Rob - Thanks for your care and concern. I'll post pictures of the hosebed of Engine 343 showing the three plaques containing all 343 names of those brothers lost that day. The plaque on the front, just under the deck gun lists the senior chiefs who came over from Fire HQ in Brooklyn, less than a mile away.
