RLFA 2000 was the basic specification for a standard Austrian pump water tender with a 4X4 chassis. It was rather similar to the British JCDD sheet for a B class water tender. Many were of course supplied on Steyr chassis, the only Austrian chassis builder, but quite a few Mercedes, Magirus and MAN chassis were also used.

It had to have at least a 1500 LPM low pressure pump (10AT), a 2000 liter water tank and a five seat cab. Individual fire brigades could upgrade to higher rated volume pumps, multi-stage high pressure pumps, cabs for 6, 7, 8 or even 9 riders and also add built-in hydraulic rescue equipment, based on their local needs and preferences.

The basic specification - for a 14 ton GVW truck - included a well-defined inventory of loose equipment, was however pretty comprehensive and ran to eighteen pages. A separate heavy duty version on an 18 ton chassis was added in later years..
