1962 delivery date suggests this was probably one of the first full pump water-tender escape combinations in the UK - or can someone come up with an earlier one?

Blackburn had a Dennis F15 WrE in the 1950s, I don't know the exact date.

1951. EJR369 Commer/Miles water tender escape for Northumberland County Fire Brigade. This was the first 400 gallons pump escape.

Ron - very interesting!

But there seem to have been relatively few WTEs placed in to service in the 1950s and even the 1960s.

I am a bit surprised that it took another twenty years for this idea to really catch on. Both city and county brigades seem to have followed the JCDD specifications for separate types of appliances rather closely, rather than looking seriously at a combination solution.

I know that Middlesborough, for example, retrofitted their F7 and F12 pump escape appliances with 250 gallon and 200 gallon tanks, but these were of course sub water-tender capacities, and some other brigades may have had similar ideas.
