Like quite a number of Illinois fire departments' rigs, this Pierce pumper is painted in the same black over red livery as the scheme which first appeared on Chicago FD units, and is still in use.

It also has a green light on the right side of the cowl, which is another distinguishing feature which originated on Chicago apparatus.
