Pierce 100 foot, by far the most common ladder in the CFD fleet of 49 Truck and Tower Companies' vehicles. Truck 6 lives with Engine 13, Battalion 1 and Ambulance 74 on Olympic just around the corner from my apartment on the New East Side.

They also provide the scuba water rescue unit crew - and staff one of the CFD's two fire boats when necessary. These are both moored at a pier at the river mouth about a quarter mile from their firehouse.

E 13 is a Luverne, B 1 is a Ford Explorer, E 74 is a Ford E 350 SD and the Dive Team truck is a Sterling.

The watch strength is fourteen. Five each on the ladder and the pump, two each on the buggy and the bus. If they come up short, the Chief does his own driving!

All CFD's aerials are tandem axle straight sticks, with no pumps or tanks, but with extensive rescue and extrication equipment as well as numerous ladders and forcible entry tools.

This station responds in an area which consists almost entirely of hi-rise structures, and responds with many units from adjacent stations. These normally include four engines, two trucks, a rescue, a snorkel, a high rise unit, three chiefs and at least one ambulance, along with between four and eight police vehicles. The CFD headcount is around 45 personnel.
