hi Chris, this is in fact a Chubb Spearhead, one of 15 made in 1975-77 for each of BAA's major airports, stanstead, Gatwick, heathrow etc.. same chassis as the pursuer minus the roof monitor, this one was made for Aberdeen airport. all had a Chrysler 7.2 litre V8 and Allison gearbox. they were designed by BAA and Chubb Fire as a first response vehicle with 0-60mph in under 20 seconds grossing seven tons ! this actual truck above now belongs to myself and is undergoing a ground-up restoration by me and my father who worked for Chubb Fire. another resides at brooklands, where are the rest I wonder ????

Hello Rob,
You are correct with the specification of this lovely Chubb Spearhead. I managed this vehicle when it arrived at Biggin Hill from the BAA Fire Service in the early 90's. It came with the Spearhead that is now at Brooklands which I donated along with a Nubian Major (MHM 954L). When it finished its operational life here, I kept PYY 647R in dry storage for many years (because I couldn't bear to part with it) until we needed the building for another use, I then donated it to Steve Shirley (RAF Museum) for what I thought was a restoration project. I am pleased to learn that you are going to restore the old girl and would be interested to see some photos of the finished job. All the best!

Hello guys, I am currently doing some research on a Chubb Pursuer, having just bought AHX 828T from Welshpool Airport. I am interested in finding out as much as possible about both the history of her and also specification etc.. before I start work on her. I would appreciate any pointers / help / advice. Many thanks Geoff

see picture #12385 for some background. They refer to the Interfire machine see that at picture #20442. This was an interesting machine as it was not for an airport. There is more about Chubb on this site eg picture #18591.
