complete with fred flintstone style of holes in the flooring and dodgy brakes.

At first glance this vehicle appears to be based on a Bedford TM chassis - triple screen wipers and TM indicators and bumper with twin headlamps. Closer examination reveals TK style 3 piece wheels however and the twin bumper mounted towing eyes which were so characteristic of the TK. This is probably a TK 1260 (KG).

Was there not a story that a driver refused to drive this because of the dodgy brakes? Must have been scary going down Kirk Brae on the way back to Liberton.

Not sure what Bedford type it was but it had definitely seen her days when this was taken. The reason it went off the run was that it actually went defective ( badly ) on the way to a shout as the brakes went then a hole appeared in the floor under the pedals as the driver tried to stamp the pedals.

The appliance type was a 1984 Bedford TKG/Saxon SVB Control Unit.

I seem to recall a bit in the press about the brakes on this vehicle and crews refusing to use it. A new Mercedes CSU is due very soon to replace the current volvo. The new vehicle will be identical to the Fife and D&G CSU`s.
