Dawlish WW2 Fire Brigade

There is sadly no clue as to what the vehicle is except to say that it is none standard Fire Brigade.
The helmet hanging from the belt of the fireman on the right is the clue as to the date some time during WW2. Probably fairly early. 1939 to 1942 I would guess.

Bus converted into mobil water dam ???

Added by John Harris on 30 March 2012.
Almost certainly a chopped up bus, but who knows what it might have been used as?

It could have been an open top touring coach, which would explain the tarp...

The main clue is unfortunately only the back wheel. This looks like a single tire rear axle, most likely perhaps Bedford - and that would not support much weight.
