8 F12 appliances arrived in NZ. One was subsequently re-exported to Fiji. With the exception of 1 appliance whose current location is unknown, the remaining 6 have all been restored/preserved in some form.

Good news David!

Personally I think the F12 was THE classic British fire engine of the 20th century. As well as being powerful, fast, practical and versatile, it was uniquely stylish, elegant and embodied excellent craftsmanship. It was also almost always painted red - unlike so many which followed, clad in unpainted panelling!

I grew up with one at my local fire station, and if I was ever going to own any fire appliance, it would just have to be an F12 with an Ajax escape ladder.
