What is the difference between a squad and aN Engine or Ladder company.

Added by Barry Reid on 17 May 2007.
Engine co is a normal engine pumper with usual kit, ladder co is just that, a ladder, and a squad is a rescue pumper, bridges the gap between a full blown rescue unit and a pumper.

Engine co 306 is a 2002 Seagrave JB 1000/500 pumper in its own quarters at40-48 214th Place, Queens, New York.It is not one of the Squad Companies.They are squad 1, 18, 41, 61, 252, 270 and288.

John, I have in my comment of the 10th September 2007 pointed out this appliance
is not one of the FDNY's Squad Companies and that it is an Engine Company.
I have also stated quite clearly the Squad Companies, there are seven operating
with the New York City Fire Dept today.Squad's 1, 18, 41, 61, 252, 270 and 288.
