Dennis SS Fire Appliance
It is Saturday 12th. May 2007, and D785XRG an ex-Tyne and Wear Dennis SS has just been put through its paces. Although 23 years old you can appreciate why some Brigades (like the New Zealand Fire Service) still use such appliances.
The bodywork on this machine was built by Fulton and Wylie in Scotland following the closure of the Dennis body shop when they moved from the magnificent old factory to the new factory on the Slyfied Estate on the outskirts of Guildford.
However the closure of the Dennis factory bodyshop resulted in the formation of John Dennis Coachbuilders (JDC) by the great grandson of one of the founding Dennis brothers. JDC have gone on to body some superb appliances, although usually at the higher end of the market.
