what is the x hamps pump used for

Added by Scally on 03 September 2011.
The ex Hampshire pump is used for domestic incidents only.

Its more of a spare and also used for driver training, in the event of the TL being otr it will be fully crewed so that the 13.5 can be used for maximum height working on the A380 (this according to the W/M who gave us a presentation

Im surprised that Manchester Airport doesnt use ex GMCFS or Cheshire Fire engines (domestic)

Added by Danny Jones on 12 October 2011.
Hi Barrie. When only the northern runway is in operation, do the airport fire service vehicles locate to the main fire station?

Added by Yelp Bullhorn on 14 April 2015.
I expect the Volvo pump came as a package with the ex Hamps TL. The TL was purchased to provide high level access to the A380's which visit MAN. There can not have been many TL's available to purchase in the UK as not many brigades operate them! I don't know about Cheshire but GMF&RS pumps are just about shot when they let them go.

No Yelp.....both stations are crewed at all times. The TL is now superfluous to requirements and is for sale or sold.

Hi Barrie. Just thought I'd let you know, because I think you've got it wrong, mate.

See, I attended the Manchester Airport Aviation and Transport Fair at Manchester Airport's Runway Visitor Park in mid-July. A great day out if (like me) you're into aeroplanes, classic cars and burgers!

Of great interest was a running commentary over the PA system by off-duty air traffic control staff, divulging such information as plane type, technical information about said plane, anecdotal facts and figures, where it has flown in from, or where it's jetting off to, etc, etc.

About 2:30, the two crash tenders from fire station 2 located at runway 2 made their way across the airfield to the main fire station near runway 1. The ATC commentator announced that this happens routinely as soon as runway 2 closes, leaving only the main fire station occupied and staffed during single runway operations. I suppose it makes sense really.
