Like most other Japanese fire departments, Tokyo favors all red paint treatment. The sole exceptions are rescue units like this example, which are differentiated by the characteristic white zig-zag "lightning flash" side stripe. Some other departments have white arrows or other white striping designs on their rescues instead.

Just as in North America, they also tend to have full five man crew cabs on their dedicated rescue trucks, a feature which seems to have disappeared in most European countries.
