Shoreham Airport Fire 4.

This picture completes the line-up of appliances at Shoreham Airport in West Sussex.
Fire 4 is again a Carmichael Rangerover Commando 6X6 and was the last appliance to go into service at the airport following an extensive overhaul before going operational.
Fitted with a Godiva UFPX 656/8 fire pump, the vehicle carries 900 litres of pre-mixed 6% FFFP.Like Fire2,its also fitted with two side lines, and carries a three section ladder,G-P line, first aid kit, fire blanket, extinguishers, tool box,etc to comply with the standards required by the CAA for a CAT2 operational airport.
I think I should just mension that in 2010 Shoreham Airport celebrated being the UK's oldest licensed airport having been actually operational since way back in 1910.

Thanks Wayne. This appliance(B862SEC)was in use with GEKO SIR SYSTEMS before Shoreham Airport purchased it and was used for fire cover at various shows around the country.
I was unable to trace its military history and registration because it had been worn off the interior engine cover inside the cab.
Do you know which RAF base it was stationed at?.

And must add, it went well across the grass strip that was Shoreham's landing area in '78.
