Somerset Dodge Water Tender
Photo was taken by Bristol Bob in a scrapyard just outside Devizes, Wiltshire in 1972 and is published with his permission. This a Dodge Water Tender registration GXM633 which served with the Somerset Fire Brigade in 50/60's.It would have passed into the control of Somerset in April 1948 from the NFS. The bodywork was built by the brigades workshops at Underwood Quarry in Wells and it carried a coventry climax FSM pump which was carried on the rear step and was connected to the water tank. Can anyone tell me the history of this appliance and did Somerset convert anymore Dodge appliances? I have a side shot of the crew from Station A10 Chew Magna stood alongside either this machine or another one with the same bodywork.
