The JOX was the first ever ALF forward control chassis, introduced shortly before WWII.

It was the inspiration for the 1948 700 series, with the engine now moved behind the front seats, rather than between them. The ALF 700 set the trend for North American fire engine design for the next thirty years, and was essentially copied by every other custom fire engine manufacturer -to become the universal design concept during these many years.

Because of WWII, relatively few JOX chassis were produced, and I believe thesr were all straight mid-mount aerial ladders, like this one. The most common sizes back then were 75 and 85 feet.

The JOX was not very attractively styled, nor was it very widespread, but it does have a unique place in fire engine history.
