Great shots, Mark - love to see the Apparatus at work, on the fire-scene.

Has Yorks. adopted the 'Jet-Fighter Pilot' style[I don't know the correct term] helmets, as shown here, like London Fire Brigade ?

Regards, from Canada,

The helmets worn by the crews are Rosenbuer 'Hero's

The European style of helmet is now very common in the UK and they have their pros and cons. I find my "Heros Xtreme" very uncomfortable after just a short time, although I do like the integral glasses and full face visor.

Up here in Tayside we have them also but we have the detatchable torch. Iv'e tried one on and found it a bit heavy on the forehead compared to the Gallet or older open style.

Added by Grant Melville on 10 July 2012.
We were issued with the torch when we got the helmets but a lot of us have taken them off as they add a lot of weight at the front and the beam points at the floor anyway. I carry my own LED Lenser torch which is a lot better anyway.
