Unusual twin front axle tandem configuration, intended to support the weight of the booms biased towards the front of the vehicle, as well as to improve maneuverability.

Similar chassis, rather rudely nicknamed "Chinese Sixes", were at one time very popular in Japan to carry aerial ladders too, but died out when tire technology improved to the point where a single front axle could handle the weight.
