Fire Engine Photos
Somerset Bedford TK
This picture was taken by Lester Solway and is published with his full permission. It shows the Bedford TK powered by a Rolls Royce Petrol engine PYC321L that was stationed at Burnham on Sea. The picture was taken in front of the Old Fire Station in Burnham which was under the town hall. The building is still standing but the station was moved in the early eighties and the doors were bricked up. Note the Rolls Royce badge has been moved to the bumper from its original position next to the HCB Angus badge. A hose reel adaptor is being used from the hydrant to wash the lengths of delivery on the ground. This machine was part of a batch of four Somerset bought that year from PYC321L to 324L. Somerset kept three but lost 322L to the County of Avon when it was formed in 1974. Well I suppose Somerset had to give Avon one decent machine.
