Rye's crashed Dennis.

This is what can and did happen to the Dennis at Rye on a bend in between Rye and Camber whilst going on a call into Kent. The pump is facing the wrong way as it is now pointing towards Rye. Thankfully every one walked away with only minor injuries. It could have been a lot worse knowing how fast these Dennis's could go.

That is one heck of a crash! Did the roof get ripped off in the crash or was it removed during rescue work? Also does anyone know anything about the Bedford dropside in the picture please, I take it it belonged to East Sussex?

Shaun, what year was this? Any registration number with this one please?

The roof was ripped off in the crash and the Bedford truck was a general purpose truck which I think was based at Bexhill.I will try and find another picture with the registration.

Having looked at the other pictures of this Dennis I have to say that the construction left a lot to be desired. Thank you for the info you have given. I wasn't sure who owned the Bedford truck so it's good to know that it belonged to the Fire Brigade plus the allocation.
