Two Magirus trucks, built back in the days when everything Magirus was their own product - chassis, engine, cab, bodywork, pumps, ladders - the lot!

For many decades they were the only truly fully integrated fire appliance manufacturer in Europe. But eventually they had to merge into IVECO - because even the German market was not big enough for a specialist manufacturer like Magirus to go it alone.

Many brigades, like Cologne, standardized on Magirus in those days because it made servicing and repair work so much easier, and their products had a very fine quality reputation.
