I believe YRB 612 was new to Stanton Ironworks - RB is a Derbyshire registration index so would probably not have started life in Nottinghamshire, it originally had a ladder mounted no higher than the cab roof to allow access to either the appliance bay or under a low bridge

Ah. YRB612, bought by me direct from Stanton and Staverleys steelworks. Used at the Kent and East Sussex railway for a long time as their fire tender. I have had four F8s over the years. Also a Surrey F24 and a F44. Rick Loudon is of course correct. It had nothing on the roof. The ladder and bell mounted on the body work so the appliance could pass under pipework at Stantons. YRB612 went to Paris on a couple of charity runs. Ran well on both occasions but we were all deaf for a week!!!!.

Hi Colin,

I hav'nt heard from you for years - since you bought an F8 radiator off me and wetted my appetite for Lindsay Burneys yard in Armagh N Ireland with the photo's you showed me - we made the holy grail 18 months ago !! well worth it !!!!

Hi there - I believe I recently purchased this fire engine
(F987 NRV) and it’s converted into a ‘party bus’ that is used for autistic and adhd children as a sensor area with a difference as well as adult and kids Limo for special occassions.
I wonder if anyone could help with finding parts, in particular a fuel tank, and users Manual? Any help would be appreciated and was great to see her history.
Thank you - Kim x
