Now this is weird ! On the reg.check sites, KP58 NSN is quoted as a silver coloured Mercedes Benz CLS320 Coupe !

Hate to admit, these look quite good.... Just out of interest, are these machines used as Emergency / Rescue tenders? only reason i was thinking that was Rescue written on the front rather than Fire.

Under the center of the cab and under the crew cab window appears to be a plastic whatever, does it serve any purpose, or can it be removed or re-sprayed to match the vehicle better?

Added by John Johnstone on 16 December 2008.
Hi John, These are Pump Rescue Tenders (PRT). If you imagine a rescue tender, and a pump engine rolled into 1, then you have this!! Because that s exactly what these are. They have all the pumping abilities of a normal fire engine, but with less Hose reels in the rear lockers to make space for the bigger rescue gear!

This is the 2nd batch of PRTs Suffolk has purchased, the others coming in 2003 (one odd one in 2001 aswell).

And i don't know what the little box is mate, a power pack maybe for equipment!!?

I will have to find out!!

Sorry for any confusion people, i think it is a power connection, i should have worded my question better, i mean the black strip under the centre cab and crew cab, looks a bit of an after thought to me, thanks Pete!

Thats a nice picture Peter, I hope they live up to expectations! Just hope Johns not put the mockers on it though, hes started to like Volvos!!!

Hi John, I know the part you are referring to, it's to cover up where the wing mirrors would have been fitted. As these doors are the same as the front ones.
Don't know why they haven't been painted, I haven't see one yet that has.

Hi John, said they look quite good, i hope i'm not losing the plot here mate, as you say, time will tell re performace, handling etc...

Thanks for that Simon, i thought it might have been that, seems to be an afterthought and looks ermmmmmmmmm different?

nice picture pete they really look smart and the battenberg sits well on it and the cheverons on the bumper im not sure on the white strip square around the front have to get used to that bit any news on suffolks carp/water tower (whatever they call it ) yet

The CARP is currently away at GB Fire having all its problems sorted out!

The 3 for Princes Street, Normanshurst and Bury are Enhanced Pump Rescue Tenders, and can be identified by twin ladder gantries where the 135 usually sits. The only firefighting equipment these three have is two hosereels and the usual tank and pump.

The other 5 are Rescue Pumps in other brigade's speak.

Hi Peter do you know when stowmarket are getting there prt?

Added by Jonathan jarrold on 09 March 2009.
Hi Jonathan, I reckon it will be soon. Stowmarket currently have there PRT at there station and have been training on it for some time now. I would think within the next 2-3 weeks max.

It is being closely watched by us at 025 Sudbury aswell, because Stowmarkets current appliance AY51 CZM is coming to replace our current SY01 which is Y543 ODX, We also have our new PRT on the run which is KR58 OLT.

Trust me on this its well worth the wait!!!
