Very interesting fire-truck. A unique idea for the Ladder Jacks on the ground.

Are your Volunteer Firemen in the country areas; and how are they organized ?

Regards, from Canada,

Hi Pat!
I am a photographer and not a fireman.
How the Volunteer Firemen are organize I can not tell you, but I will try to e-mail you some info.

All the best from Austria,

Pat, I've visited Austria 3 times in recent years and was amazed to see that all the little villages and small towns have a volunteer fire brigade. From the hotel on one occasion where we stayed, you could literally walk for 5 min's one way to the next village and see a fire station, or from my hotel walk the other way and there was another. I'll send some pictures in to the site sometime because there seems to be very little. Lets hope Aram can send somemore in. Pete.

I have been Volunteer Ambulance and/or Volunteer Fireman, since 1992.

So, I have always been interested in how other people do things; now, learning of Volunteer Fire Departments in well-populated Austria, Europe is really intriguing.

I received your E-Mail, with thanks. Now, looking forward to further Austrian pictures, from you and Pete.

Regards, from Canada, Pat_R-B

Austria has only six paid professional fire brigades, but there are more than 4, 500 volunteer fire companies.
