Brilliant bunch of photographs, something at last a little different, thanks for sharing them with us. More if posible please. Thanks, Pete.

Yes, like Pete, I have been enjoying all these different Fire Engines, too.

BTW - the details are great - for Us-weak-on-the-Metric - this truck carries 530 Imperial Gallons (630 US Gals) of water, and same for the Pump's capacity - 530 Imp GPM and 630 US GPM at 145 PSI.

Please send in more pictures.

Viacheslav, your photos appeal to all fireman/women, they are excellent! Thank you. And the reason is because we look at your front line apparatus and it is the obvious standard of preparedness that makes us all feel very proud, well done, mate.

The USSR liked these very spiffy whitewall tires on their fire trucks as an added means of identification, along with the white stripes and front doors.

Various other countries' fire services also adopted some of these ideas.

At one time, whitewalls were very common in France, while Spanish fire brigades liked the white front doors.

The major advocates of white stripes included the Netherlands, East Germany, New Zealand, Singapore and quite a few US fire departments.

Now we seem in many places to have gone from a few distinctive but still elegant paint schemes to an endless collection of colors, stripes and checks as well as an assortment of weird designs - so as to confuse other drivers in their quest for a distinctive look....

The Factory where these were made proudly by the people living in the Village of Ladan, near Pryluky is now derelict, at its height it was an enormous enterprise, even now the site and its buildings dominate the main road into the Village.

Paul

Although pretty basic by today’s standards, these were immensely strong and durable fire trucks - and many were in service for thirty years or more in various member countries of the USSR.
