Hahn Motors Inc.

Hahn Motors Incorporated had their manufacturing Plant in Hamburg, Pennsylvania, USA.They built numerous durable and reliable fire apparatus including pumpers, tractor-drawn aerials, rescue trucks and other specialist apparatus for fire departments across the United States.
The Hahn company although being a small medium size company also built their own custom fire apparatus chassis, which was also used by other small fire engine manufacturers. They also utilized a number of commercial chassis in their manufacture of fire fighting apparatus.
After the war, Hahn developed its own identifiable design of apparatus with a very distinctive rounded shape cab to their fire engines.
The Hahn tractor trailer type aerial unit introduced in the early 1970's was powered by a General Motors V8 Detroit deisel delivering 350bhp through an Allison automatic transmission. The 100ft aerial ladder used was produced by Grove and were mounted in the centre of the apparatus and due to the vehicles length, a rear-steer tiller cab for the tiller-man was fitted. The company also produced rearmount aerials with 100ft Grove ladders, and mid-mount aerials and by the 1970's, Hahn were actually producing around 100 custom built fire engines each year.
Hahn Motors Incorporated ceased fire apparatus production in 1989, but many of their fire engines are still in active service today across the USA.The Hahn HC12 pumper introduced in the 1980's, some being capable of delivering 1500gpm(6810 litres)were very popular with many East Coast fire departments and are in fact still in use to this very day.
