Berliet was a manufacturer of cars, trucks and other utility vehicles, based in Venissieux, outside of Lyons, France.
Berliet started commercial production of carsin 1900 adding trucks to its range in 1917 (WWI). From 1939 onwards Berliet dropped car production and concentrated on trucks only. In 1967 ownership transferred to Citroen and again in 1974 to Renault. Berliet was merged by Renault with Saviem to form RVI and the brand Berliet was phased out of existance.
So photos of Berliet appliances on the Fire Engine Photos site are likely to be old / historic ones.
